Growing up, I had a coach who, before every game, would say to us, “If every one of you doesn’t do your part today, we won’t win. But if you do your part, give your best, and work together as a team, you will win and overcome.”

To this day, those words stick with me. I can’t even count how many times I heard that speech. However, as I grew in my faith and became a follower of Jesus, I began to realize something profound: my ultimate victory doesn’t depend on what I do—it comes through Jesus.

I found myself on the sidelines, watching and reflecting on how Christ had already won the victory.

Let me paint a clearer picture. Many of you know I am a die-hard OU fan. So much so that after watching a game where they won, I excitedly shouted, “WE WON!”

But then I paused and thought about what I had just said: “WE WON.”

The truth is, I didn’t catch a football, run a single yard, attend even one practice, or kick a field goal. Yet, I still shouted, “WE WON!”

That’s exactly what I want to share with you today: even though we weren’t the ones who died on the cross, bore the stripes, shed the blood, or rose from the grave, we win in life because Jesus won!

His victory is our victory! We didn’t earn it, and we couldn’t contribute to it because He alone was the perfect sacrifice. Everything He endured was so that we—all who accept Him—can live as winners and overcomers in this world.

Accepting Jesus means embracing His victory, His life, His joy, His peace, and every blessing that comes from the Kingdom of God.

So, if you take away only one thing from this encouragement today, let it be this: WE WIN! Whatever battle you are facing, you can have confidence that you win because Jesus has already overcome it!

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57 NIV
