Dear Friend,
As this school year begins, my heart is stirred with both urgency and hope. Every parent, grandparent, and leader knows we are sending our children into a world filled with pressures we never imagined—confusion about identity, overwhelming fears about the future, and temptations that come earlier and stronger than ever before.
But here is the unshakable truth: God is a generational God. He has never abandoned His people, and He will not abandon us or our children now.
From Abraham to Moses to David to the disciples, He has always revealed Himself not just to one generation but through each generation, carrying His life forward.
This is not just about our children. It's about us—and what we model, pray, and carry into their lives. If ever there was a time to rise up in faith, it is now.
Let me share three truths burning in my spirit for this moment:
1. God's Presence Protects
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." — Deuteronomy 31:8
Our children are walking into classrooms where we cannot go—but God can. He is not only with them, He is ahead of them. And the same is true for us: in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and families. We cannot shield them from everything, but we can call on the presence of the One who never fails.
Pray urgently every morning—"Lord, surround my children and surround me today with Your presence."
2. God's Word Anchors
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." — Psalm 119:105
Culture shifts daily, but God's Word has never changed. Our children are being told, "Truth is what you feel," but the Word declares, "Truth is who He is." They need Scripture not just in a classroom or church but alive in their homes—and in our lives.
If they don't see us anchored, they won't know where to anchor themselves.
Let them see you reading and living God's Word—because what anchors you will anchor them.
3. God's Spirit Empowers
"Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit," says the LORD Almighty. — Zechariah 4:6
No amount of good advice, positive thinking, or even our best parenting can carry them through the battles ahead. But the Holy Spirit can.
He gives wisdom beyond their years, courage to stand when it's not popular, and strength to endure when it feels impossible. And He wants to fill us daily with the same power.
Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit—on your children, and on you.
Friend, God has placed us here for this moment. This generation desperately needs to see His reality in us. Let us not shrink back. Let us cry out for His presence, His Word, and His Spirit—until every generation knows the God who is alive in us.
With urgency and love,
Mikel
