Facing Loss

I hate death. I hate pain. I hate sorrow. I hate loss.

Nothing can prepare us for death of a loved one. When someone dies unexpectedly, even when it is known that they loved Jesus Christ and are now in Heaven with Him, it can leave those around them with a lot of tough questions and feelings of disbelief, shock, sorrow, fear and pain.

It isn’t wrong to feel this way when we experience such a loss. In fact, it is healthy to go through grief and turn to God with our questions. It is okay to not be okay.

In no way would God ever inflict this pain on us, His own children. He sent His own Son to die for us and defeat death itself just to save us from our own sin and it’s consequences. God hates death, pain, sorrow and loss.

But because of the fallen world we live in, God knew we would go through times of trials and suffering, so out of love He has already given us the answers in His Word:

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” ~ Matthew 5:4

“And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” ~ Romans 8:28

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” ~ Psalm 34:18

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” ~ Psalm 147:3

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” ~ Psalm 73:26

When we are facing loss we are also facing a decision: to fall into despair, or fall into the hope of God’s love and Word.

Sometimes there is no answer for a problem other than the promises in the Word of God that He is with us, He knows our suffering, and He will heal and restore our sorrows.

Today if you are facing a loss or are in pain, I encourage you to find peace and comfort in the Word of God!

God is our hope.
God is our comforter.
God is our peace.
God is our healing.
God is our promise for a better tomorrow.

Turn Up The Heat

When most people are asked what their favorite season is they either answer spring or fall. Why? Because it’s not too hot, and not too cold. They are comfortable times of the year, in terms of the weather.

Now there is nothing wrong with favoring spring or fall over summer and winter. But there is danger in remaining comfortable in regards to your life, and what you believe and value.

God doesn’t want us to remain comfortable in our spiritual walk with him, or in any other area of our lives.
God wants us to turn up the heat!

“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.’”
~ Revelation 3:15-16

Turn up the heat in your time with God! Spend more quality time in His Word, and in your prayers! When you don’t know what to pray about, pray in the Spirit! Don’t let your spirit burn out- keep the fire going!

Turn up the heat on your goals! If your goal is to get a degree, study harder! If your goal is to loose weight, work harder! Whatever your goal is, push harder!

Turn up the heat in your relationships! Recognize the important relationships in your life, and keep the fire burning! Spend time with your spouse, and don’t just be a parent on the weekends! Call your mom! Appreciation goes a long way.

God will give you the strength you need to live your best life! There is no need to burn out! Instead of remaining comfortable, turn up the heat in your life!

Through The Fire

Here in Oklahoma we are in the treacherous heat of summer. And with fall right around the corner, I’ve noticed that my schedule is becoming ever endless. The heat is high, and the pressure is on. But no matter how stressful or hot it gets, I never stop praising God, for He is good!

This summer you are going to encounter some hot situations: decisions, deadlines, conflicts, trials, and the opportunity to burn out before even beginning the next season. But the solution to these is simple: Praise God through the fire!

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, ‘Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.’

Nebuchadnezzar, his face purple with anger, cut off Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace fired up seven times hotter than usual. He ordered some strong men from the army to tie them up, hands and feet, and throw them into the roaring furnace. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, bound hand and foot, fully dressed from head to toe, were pitched into the roaring fire. Because the king was in such a hurry and the furnace was so hot, flames from the furnace killed the men who carried Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to it, while the fire raged around Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

Suddenly King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in alarm and said, ‘Didn’t we throw three men, bound hand and foot, into the fire?’

‘That’s right, O king,’ they said.

‘But look!’ he said. ‘I see four men, walking around freely in the fire, completely unharmed! And the fourth man looks like a son of the gods!’

Nebuchadnezzar went to the door of the roaring furnace and called in, ‘Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the High God, come out here!’

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked out of the fire.” ~ Daniel 3:16- 26

Praise is powerful because it changes your mentality. You begin to see yourself from a position of victory, rather than a position of defeat. It brings confidence, as it is also a form of faith as you are resting on the promises of God.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were in a hot situation. But they never doubted God, and never stopped His glory from being on their lips!

No matter what furnace you are in today, God will deliver you through the fire! Just keep praising your way through your trials!

Our God Is Bigger

One of the biggest hinderances we bring into our own lives is making the problems in our life bigger than our trust in God.
What we need to meditate on, and fully understand is that GOD IS BIGGER THAN OUR PROBLEMS!

God Is Bigger Than Your Fears

You cannot live in both faith and fear.
God wants us to trust Him – to live in faith!
There is nothing bigger than God; God is bigger than any fear that the enemy puts in your mind!
The devil wants to hinder your life with fear – Don’t believe him!
God is with you! There is NOTHING to fear!

God Is Bigger Than Your Finances

In life, money is just a tool.
You never need to worry about your finances – God is your supplier!
He can bless you in ways that you could never imagine!
Be open to his blessings, and don’t worry about anything!
God is bigger than your finances!

God Is Bigger Than Your Frustrations

Many times we can let bad news, or inconveniences frustrate us.
God doesn’t want us to live this way!
God wants us to trust Him!
He knows everything that is going to happen!
Nothing catches God by surprise – He is bigger than your frustrations!

God Is Bigger Than Your Doctor’s Report

There are thousands of references in the Bible, thousands of reports today of God healing the sick and wounded!
God’s healing power didn’t end when the apostles died- no!
God heals today!
Christ took on your diseases and pains when he went to the cross – and by His stripes you were healed!
Claim your healing!
God is bigger than your doctor’s reports!

God Is Bigger Than Your Enemy

What do you picture when you think of the devil?
The media portrays him to be a supreme dictator, a mega villan- an equal to God.
That description is hillariously, and uttery WRONG!
THE DEVIL IS DEFEATED!
He is no more powerful than a flea.
The devil desires to destroy you – but he is all talk! He is the father of lies and he can do nothing to harm you without your consent!
As believers of Christ – YOU have authority over the devil!
God is bigger than your enemy!

Once you believe and trust that God is bigger than any of your worries – that is living in faith!
When you live in faith, God is able to move in miraculous ways!
Trust Him!
God is bigger!

Clearing Your Cloud of Thought

Our thoughts have a huge impact on our lives.
Our thoughts have the power to influence our past, present, and future.
Depending on what you think on is what you will see in your life!

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” ~ Romans 12:2

God wants to help us live the best lives we can!
We don’t have to wait until we get to Heaven to see all of God’s promises come to pass – We can see them now!
After you were born again, God didn’t leave you to figure out this life alone.
He gave you His Word, and equipped you with the Holy Spirit!
The only way we are going to see God’s promises come to pass in our lives, however, is by putting them into our lives with our thoughts.
The Word of God tells us to renew our minds daily.

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
~ Joshua 1: 8-9

When you meditate on the Word of God, the way you think will change.
The clouds of worry, doubt, stress, guilt, anger, hatred, and sin will evaporate from your mind.
You will have a mind like Christ, with Christ thoughts!
The mind of Christ is full of love, joy, peace, trust, forgiveness, and righteousness.
The mind of Christ is filled with truth.

Take time not only today, but also everyday to intentionally renew your mind with The Word of God.
Don’t do it for religious reasons, do it for you.
By renewing your mind with The Word of God, the dark clouds of thought that we all struggle with evaporates, and you will be able to see the promises of God come to pass in your life.
