The Power of Understanding Authority.

Good morning to the early risers…
Good evening to the night owls.

As you read this, I’m flying home from Nairobi, Kenya twelve times preaching in just nine days, moving from churches to a leadership conference. Crowds. Souls stirred. Exhausting? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. And I promise, this word will give your week momentum.

Today, I want to share a moment in the Bible that amazed Jesus Himself. The text says it plainly:

“Jesus marveled.”

It’s not just what happened. It’s how He responded.

Jesus met a man a centurion. We don’t get his name. But we know he had a servant who was paralyzed.

Word had reached him: Jesus heals the sick. Jesus makes the lame walk. Jesus does the impossible.

So he asked Jesus to heal his servant.

But here’s the difference: the way he asked.

Jesus, as always, said yes. He was ready to go in person. But then He marveled.

Why?

Because this centurion understood authority.

He said:

“…but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. ” (Matthew 8:8-9)

Faith like that isn’t blind. It’s knowing. Understanding. Confident.

Lepers were healed. Blind men received sight. Peter walked on water. Yet this man’s faith made Jesus marvel.

Why? Authority.
Recognition.
Bold confidence in the Name of Jesus.

When you understand authority, it changes everything:
Your faith.
Your prayers.
Your perspective.

You don’t have to be present in the problem.
Speak in Jesus’ Name.
Step into His authority.
Watch the situation bow.

Peter stepped out on water in faith…
He began to sink when doubt came.
Later, back in the boat, they finally saw it clearly:

“And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped Him, saying, ‘Truly You are the Son of God.’” (Matthew 14:32)

Friends, here’s the question: Do you understand the authority you carry?
As God’s children sons and daughters we carry His authority in the mighty Name of Jesus.

This week, walk in it.
Speak with boldness.
Act with confidence.
Step into the realm God has already opened and watch everything shift.
