Dear Friend,

Average doesn’t announce itself. It slips in quietly when we lose sight of what really matters. When Israel wandered in the wilderness, their greatest downfall wasn’t just rebellion—it was spiritual amnesia. They lost sight of five vital things, and with it, they lost their joy, their purpose, and their identity.

They lost sight of Who was with them.

They grumbled against Moses and Aaron, forgetting it was God who had parted the Red Sea, rained manna from heaven, and walked with them in fire and cloud. When we shift our focus to people instead of the presence of Jehovah-Jireh, discouragement creeps in. God never left them—they lost sight of Him.

They lost sight of where they had been.

They glamorized Egypt, forgetting the chains and cruelty. Sin often looks better in hindsight when we romanticize the past. But don’t lose sight: you’ve been delivered. You were lost—now found. Dead—now alive. Don’t ever trade the Promised Land for the illusion of comfort in Egypt.

They lost sight of where they were.

They weren’t lost; they were on their way to the Promised Land, in the center of God’s provision. He gave them bread from heaven and water from a rock. But they stopped seeing His hand and only saw the sand. Friend, don’t let daily trials blind you to divine positioning.

They lost sight of where they were going.

God promised a land flowing with milk and honey, but they grew weary in the waiting. They mistook the journey for the destination. You’re not stuck—you’re moving. Don’t lose sight of your future just because your present is dry and dusty.

Finally, they lost sight of who they were.

Years of bondage clouded their identity. They saw themselves as slaves, not sons. It took one year to get them out of Egypt but 40 years to get Egypt out of them. If you lose sight of your identity in Christ, you lose your joy and your strength.

The enemy wants to contain you with the ordinary—to contaminate your calling with average. But you are not your average Joe. You’ve been bought with a price. Redeemed. Sanctified. Anointed. Chosen.

So today, refuse to lose sight. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Stay mindful of His presence, His promises, and who you are in Him.
