Dear friends and family,
As we step into a new week, I’ve been reflecting on a simple but weighty truth:
How you exit one season often determines the favor of the next.
It’s not the difficulty of the season that defines you. It’s your response to it.
Your response is what prepares you for what God is about to do next.
In the 90s, I was traveling into Russia multiple times a year. Entering the country was never easy. You had to fill out small declaration forms, stand in long lines sometimes 45 minutes to an hour and wait your turn. One trip, I completed everything except one small detail:
I forgot to sign the form.
When I finally reached the counter, the officer noticed it immediately. I had no pen. Instead of handing me one, she sent me to the back of the line. I was frustrated. Everything in me wanted to push back or find a shortcut.
But deep inside, I sensed something clear:
Go back to that same line. Not another one. The same one.
So I did.
As I stood there again, waiting, I realized something. This moment wasn’t about the officer. It was about me.
It was about how I would respond in a moment of inconvenience.
When I got back to the counter, I looked her in the eye, thanked her for doing her job, and said, “Bless you. Have a great day.” She spoke English, and I could see it on her face something shifted.
For the Words says, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” -Romans 12:18
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. -Proverbs 15:1
We always have a choice in how we respond… how we answer.
What I learned in that moment has stayed with me:
Sometimes the way you handle the exit is the test for the entrance.
So today, I wanted to bless you with this blog because you may be in a situation similar to one I experienced or may face one day.
Here are three anchors to carry into your next season:
- Honor God in the small moments.
Breakthroughs are often disguised as inconveniences.
The way you respond when no one is watching reveals the condition of your heart. Faithfulness in the small prepares you for influence in the greater.
- Guard your attitude at all costs.
An attitude of gratitude is not optional. It’s essential.
Frustration, offense, and impatience can quietly sabotage what God is trying to position you for. Your spirit must stay aligned even when circumstances are not.
See every challenge as preparation, not punishment.
- God is not working against you.
He’s working in you.
Every delay, every difficulty, every unexpected turn is shaping your capacity for what’s next. If you pass the test in this season, you carry favor into the next.
For some, this may sound simple. But in every stage of life, what matters most is not just where you’re going. It’s how you’re transitioning.
God is always preparing you for more. The question is:
Are you preparing yourself well?
Step into this week with awareness. Your response today may be the doorway to tomorrow.
Blessings,
Mikel
