Cherished Friends and Family,

One of the greatest miracles God ever performs is not something we can see with our natural eyes.

It is the transformation of the human heart.

The gospel does what nothing else can do. It doesn’t simply improve our behavior—it changes us from the inside out. It takes us from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom, and from trying to earn God’s acceptance to living confidently as His sons and daughters.

Paul writes:

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”  Romans 10:9

Notice where believing takes place:

In the heart.

Christianity is more than saying the right words. And it is more than privately agreeing with certain truths.

Heart-belief and confession work together.

You might say it this way:

Belief without confession remains hidden.
Confession without belief becomes ritual.
But when the heart believes and the mouth confesses, transformation begins.

Real faith is confidence in what we cannot yet see because we have absolute confidence in the One who has spoken.

That is why Romans 10:17 tells us:

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Our confidence cannot ultimately rest in our emotions, circumstances, accomplishments, or ability to make ourselves righteous.

Our faith must rest in the Word of God.

Religion says, “Look what I can do for God.”

Faith says, “Look what Christ has already done for me.”

When we understand that, striving begins to disappear.

Condemnation loses its voice.

Shame loses its grip.

Fear no longer gets to control our thinking.

We stop trying to climb high enough to reach God and discover that, through Jesus Christ, God has already come to us.

Then Paul gives us this extraordinary promise:

“Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” Romans 10:11

That doesn’t mean life will never contain disappointment. People may disappoint us. Circumstances may disappoint us. There will be moments we don’t understand.

But Jesus will never disappoint us.

The transformed heart says, My confidence is in Him.

His sacrifice is enough.

His righteousness is enough.

His Word is enough.

His grace is enough.

And when your heart becomes settled in that truth, you don’t simply begin thinking differently, you begin living differently.

So today, stop trying to earn what Jesus has already provided.

Open your heart.

Believe His Word.

Confess His Lordship.

And allow the Holy Spirit to continue His transforming work in you.

Think big. Believe big. Live transformed.

From my heart to yours,
Mike
